A Fourth of July Invitation from Garrison Keillor “Stearns County is about as close to Lake Wobegon as you can get so it’s where we plan to observe the 35th anniversary of A Prairie Home Companion — in the town of Avon, which is on the Lake Wobegon Bike Trail, broadcasting live coast to coast and overseas via Armed Forces Radio — a brass band, speeches, acoustic blues and rock n roll, some reminiscences by old-timers, and the whole big crowd singing the national anthem, and our sound-effects man will make rockets go up in the air. I’ve biked the Bike Trail a couple of times and love the ordinary beauty of farmland and meadow and the towns along it. A longtime fan of Garrison Keillor and his show have always wanted eingeladen.Ich wish he would come this part of Minnesota and the Days of the potatoes is a big festival here attracts thousands and would have more to draw. . . . Not far from the long harsh winters of North Dakota and Fargo.Minnesota, it will be a happy Fourth of July. . . . Enjoy all! Remember, if July 4th is more than what we are talking about the snow in Minnesota.
Cool, my wife’s family live in Avon-brother is with us in Montana, but the father of my wife goes to show! Lucky!
It will be in Avon Park Wobegon (1st and Avon). Admission is free, no tickets. The town is small enough that you no trouble finding it – just off Highway 153 I-94 in Avon.
Venue was there, and I get the tickets through Ticket Master? I just want to travel on the road.
