This film wasn’t filmed at The Stanley in Colorado. Stephen King did stay at the Stanley and even wrote some, if not all of the book, there. They now call it the Stephen King room. The Stanley is a pretty freaky hotel which explains why it inspired him to write this. The hotel is about 30 minutes from our house so we go there on occasion. They have a Halloween party every year that is fun.

This piece is an adaptation of the the Dies Irae, from Berlioz’s Symphony Fantastique. Of course it’s disturbing, it’s the Judgment Day, the Day of Wrath!

No, not isolated. Towns where my uncle live are not very far away. A lot of people go there. I don’t think the whole movie was just filmed there, but I don’t know to much.

is the hotel really as isolated as it is in the film? or is it near towns and cities?

the entire movie was filmed at elstree studios in england. the exterior shots included, except for the first aerial shot of the hotel -but that place is in oregon. the hedge maze was built on an abandoned RAF airfield.

A great film, although unless a real crap director takes one of King’s masterpieces on screen, they usually turn out great!
