Hi thanks for looking at this vide.
Did you look at the other 3 parts?
Youtube did not allow the full length as one video.
There is some video east of Field.
I didn’t see any laggan sub, all I seen was Mountain Sub McDonald track and Connaught track, lest thats what it was called when I worked there.
This tunnel was designed as a split tunnel with automatic doors To improve flow west toeast. As well there is a vent tunnel drilled verticallt over the doors with fans. The vent tunnel comes out west of Rogers pass summit south of the freeway
Yes there are giant fans in the middle, one at the eastern portal and a large door.
Is there any kind of ventillation systems in these tunnels or does the crew just get to breathe diesel fumes?
Actually 1909 was the year the spiral tunnels in yoho national park were opened.
The Connaught tunnel construction startde in April1914 and was opened in mid December 1916 ahead of schedule.
indeed the wester portal of the Connaught tunnel from 1909,or there abouts.
CPR now has locos on the ends.
I miss cabooses!! Trains look so “unfinished” when they go by with nothing to punctuate the end!
That looks to me like the western entrance to the Connaught Tunnel.
Thanks for the info. I’ll have to take a look the next time I’m up that way.
There is a road to the left as you are approaching the bottom of Rodgers Pass.
You can drive up past the old Glacier Log Station.
Not sure if you can get near tunnel now or not.
The tunnel is directly below where the road takes a sharp horeshoe curve up the hill to the top of the pass.
So how’s it done these days?
In the old days you could drive close by.
How the devil do you get in there to see it and take this footage?
email me and we’ll see what we can do.
It is the west portal of the old Connaught Tunnel at Rodgers Pass.
What tunnel is shown at 3:40?
Is this a private recording or is it a DVD is is possible to buy? I would like to buy it if possible!
wow this is cool I have shoot photos up there around the McDonald tunnel from on board the Rockey Mountaineer during winter what an expierence for this warm blooded Texan a trully beautifull area that whole Mountain sub I love it all
Great footage! CP rocks!
