Why are there no fireflies west of the Rocky Mountains?

I realize that the Rocky Mountains could be a formidable barrier for lightning bugs, but I am surprised they haven’t spread into the western United States with the help of humans (deliberate or not). Why don’t we see them in the West?

the weather west of the rockies is dry adn mostly raining, Fireflies lives were the weather is mostly humid and sunny and little bit hoter. that’s why you see some in the east and not in the west.

It sure stinks that they can’t survive here.
